Water

It's like everything is in slow-motion.
Done with tracing paper, watercolor, colored pencils and ink.

Elephant

In my drawing class my professor told us to bring cardboard so we can create sculptures. This idea was a bit odd to me considering that it's a drawing class, not a sculpture class, but my teacher really enjoys thinking outside the box. (No pun intended)

My object was an elephant, from the photo you can't really tell but the elephant is a little off the center because the idea is to focus on the interoir and exterior of the object. Much like Picasso's s guitar piece. We're focusing on cubist ideas, and the concept of space.

Picasso's Guitar Construction 1912-1914
As you can see here, Picasso focused on the inside and the outside of the guitar.

Seeing Double

This was a very slow painting, it's not perfect, but I'm satisfied with how it came out.
In my opinion, this was a very successful piece.

Shoe

Wire Shoe Sculpture for 3D class.
This class is slowly becoming my favorite class because it's making me think in a 3D way when my brain normally thinks in a 2D way.

Line

In my 3D class we are focusing on line, or a space between point A and point B. It's very challenging, and for homework we had to write down definitions and physical properties of line. This is what I came up with.

  1. Abstract/Metaphorical ideas/definitions of line:
  • A representation of such objects
  • A distance between two points
  • The path of a moving point
  • Distance that suggests space and mass
  • Where your eye follows
  • General appearance or outline
  • No solid areas
  • Not always made by a ruler
  • May be used to convey a certain emotion
  • The beginning of a composition
2. Descriptions of some physical properties of line:
  • Straight, curved, wavy (type)
  • Vertical, horizontal, diagonal, zigzag (direction)
  • Thick, thin
  • Harsh, soft
  • Fast, slow
  • Organic (irregular shape), synthetic (regular, mechanical)
  • Implied, actual
  • Parallel, adjacent, perpendicular
  • Tall, short
  • Wide, narrow
Here are some examples I created:

Dirt

This is my progression of drawing dirt.

These pictures were taken on my iPhone

Tromp L'oeil

This is my working on my latest piece in painting class. I enjoy the process and how it's looking so far. I still have a bunch of work ahead of me.

These photographs were taken through Instagram.

Still Life B&W

Still in the process of finishing this, but so far it's pretty annoying. I have a lot of work to do..
Remind me why I'm a painting major again?

Black and White

I had to paint six of these things for painting homework. It was painful.

Drawing From Life

School has started up and things have been a little hectic. This is a piece for my "Drawing from Life" class. The assignment was to interpret the meaning of drawing from life.

Past

Discovered an old sketch book today, it inspired me to update my art site. I need to photograph more pieces and that's always the most difficult part. Well, at least for me it is, but that could be because I'm a perfectionist when it comes down to this sort of thing.

Paul Cezanne

I have never hated a painting in my life more than this one right here. If you look at the original by Paul Cezanne there are so many colors and it's driving me bonkers.

Oil Painting

I would pick the most detailed pattern for my first oil painting. Not one of my smartest decisions.

Finished

Finished!

The Scream

Ahhhhhhh

Gwyneth

Working with pastels are sooo much fun. It's turning into my new favorite medium.

Pain

The amount of nails hammered into this ballet shoe is CRAZY.

Cat

Simba is enjoying my new art project.

On Point

Acrylic. Pointillism.
soooo many dots.
